Apply for the Wildfire Recovery Support Program

The Gray Road Fire Recovery Assistance Program was established to provide limited financial support to households impacted by the Gray Road Fire. Many property owners throughout the region continue facing the difficult and ongoing process of cleaning up fire-damaged properties, removing hazardous vegetation and debris, restoring safe access to their land, and reducing future wildfire risks. This program is intended to help support those continued recovery efforts.

Funding through this program may be used to assist with eligible exterior property cleanup, wildfire mitigation, and restoration work directly related to impacts from the Gray Road Fire. Eligible activities may include removal and disposal of burned debris and damaged materials, cleanup of impacted portions of the property, hazardous tree removal or falling, chipping of fire-damaged vegetation, fuel reduction, defensible space improvements, and similar mitigation or restoration projects intended to improve property safety and usability.

The program is designed specifically for outdoor property recovery and wildfire mitigation efforts. Interior home repairs, reconstruction, remodeling, personal property replacement, and unrelated property improvements are not eligible under this program.

Funding is limited and assistance will be prioritized based on demonstrated need, severity of impact, property safety concerns, and available program resources. Priority consideration may also be given to households that have not previously received financial assistance related to wildfire recovery efforts.

The maximum assistance available under this program is $1,000 per impacted household address. Assistance may be used for approved upcoming projects or, in some cases, reimbursement for eligible work completed on or after January 1, 2026.

To qualify, all work submitted for reimbursement or funding consideration must be completed by properly registered, licensed, and bonded contractors. Work completed by property owners, volunteers, or unlicensed contractors is not eligible for reimbursement under this program. Applicants will be required to provide invoices, receipts, estimates, photographs, or other supporting documentation to verify fire impact, contractor involvement, and eligible expenses.

Eligibility Rules

Applicant must be the property owner, legal occupant, or authorized representative of an impacted property.

Property must have been directly impacted by the Gray Road Fire.

Assistance is limited to one application and one maximum award per impacted household address.

Applicants must certify that all information submitted is accurate and complete.

Priority may be given to primary residences over secondary or recreational properties.

Funding is subject to availability and submission of a complete application.

Eligible Work Requirements

All funded work must directly relate to wildfire cleanup, mitigation, exterior restoration, or property safety improvements associated with the Gray Road Fire.

Only exterior property work is eligible. Interior home repairs, remodeling, furnishings, appliances, or reconstruction costs are not eligible.

Cosmetic improvements unrelated to fire recovery are not eligible.

Work must comply with applicable local, county, and state regulations.

All work must be performed by properly registered, licensed, and bonded contractors.

Volunteer labor, self-performed work, or work completed by unlicensed contractors is not eligible for reimbursement.

Documentation Requirements

Applicants must provide itemized invoices, receipts, estimates, or contracts clearly showing the scope of work performed.

Documentation must include contractor business information and license details when requested.

Eligible reimbursement expenses must be dated on or after January 1, 2026.

Before-and-after photographs may be requested to verify work completion and fire impact.

The program reserves the right to request additional documentation or conduct site verification prior to approval.

Funding and Reimbursement Rules

Maximum funding assistance is limited to $1,000 per impacted household address.

Approval of funding does not guarantee full reimbursement of submitted expenses.

Reimbursement amounts may vary based on available funding, demonstrated need, and volume of applications received.

Funds may be issued as reimbursement after work completion or, in limited circumstances, as pre-approved assistance for upcoming projects.

The organization reserves the right to partially fund requests based on program limitations.

Priority and Review Criteria

Applications will be prioritized based on demonstrated financial need, property impact, safety concerns, and available funding.

Priority consideration may be given to households that have not previously received fire recovery assistance.

Applications involving immediate safety hazards, such as hazardous trees or blocked access, may receive elevated priority.

Program Administration Protections

Submission of an application does not guarantee funding approval.

The administering organization reserves the right to deny applications that do not meet program guidelines or lack sufficient documentation.

False, misleading, or fraudulent information may result in denial of funding or repayment requirements.

Funding decisions are final and subject to available program resources.

The program may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time based on funding availability or administrative needs.
